Instructions to authors
Scope and Policy
The journal, mainly oriented to the academic community, welcomes scholarly articles, in the most diverse methodological and critic tendencies. Its main areas of interest are literary studies, Brazilian literature and comparative literature, provided they deal with the work of Machado de Assis.
The articles must be still unpublished in Brazil. The journal receives, reviews and publishes articles in Portuguese and English.
All the articles are received by the editors and distributed for evaluation by the components of the editorial board and by ad hoc reviewers, members of the Brazilian and international academic community, who are especially invited at every issue of the journal.
Each article, without indication of authorship, is assessed by two reviewers, the editors deciding cases of discrepancy. Based on the recommendations of reviewers, the editors inform the authors about the acceptance or refusal of their papers for publication.
The texts accepted for publication are submitted to editorial treatment and are sent to their respective authors for their final approval.
Sometimes the journal publishes articles originated in key-note conferences, public talks and papers delivered in scientific events organized or not by the journal board itself or by individual members of the editorial board.
Reviews of books about the work of Machado de Assis, or about new editions of his work, are always invited by the editors.
